Designer | Director
Shane Lester is a multi-disciplined art director, designer, and filmmaker working fluidly across print, digital, and time-based mediums. Regardless of the format, he strives to create work which is contemporary, relevant, and above all conveying a sense of emotional beauty, with sharp aesthetics and exacting attention to detail. His process is both highly intuitive and methodical, informed by a generalist stance toward creative work, and the diverse cultural experiences of east meets west.
Prior to going independent in 2013, Shane was an art director in the Tokyo office of renowned advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy, gaining eight years of exposure to all types of creative projects and working situations, from large-scale global advertising campaigns, to the smallest of independent, self-initiated jobs.
He was also a core member of the creative team behind W+K Tokyo Lab, the experimental audiovisual record label launched by W+K Tokyo in 2003, which released pioneering CD+DVD albums in collaboration with some of Japan’s premiere young music and visual talents through 2010. The DIY approach and sensitivity toward music and visuals engendered there continues to inform his work.
